The second rule we have under general rules is:

No double posting

Could it be changed to this?

No needless double posting

There's a lot of threads that are low traffic but still active, and the "regulars" to those threads could easily be back a week later with new information and have their post still be the last update to the thread. When users are forced to edit it not only doesn't bump the thread but it doesn't send out email notifications either.

If there's news it generally is ok to double post, like the Perfume Locks thread sometimes has double posting when new episodes are posted. What are you looking to bump?

I don't have a specific thread right now, it's just something I've run into a bunch with the slower threads over time.

Right here on the red box there's a big link to index.php.

Same. I actually think it was removed before and more people complained it was missing than liked the change so it was put back.

^^^Right, I can easily get to the index from there. It's more helpful than it is useless.

How about adding a "thank you" button to posts so we can thank a user for a useful post without the many "thank you posts" cluttering the thread? Here's a link to a post about XDA-developer's implementation of it:
http://www.xda-developers.com/announcem ... on-on-xda/

Also, I'd love to see the mobile style sheet come back, it was much better than the default one on my phone.

My goodness why did I never think of doing that....there have been countless times I've wanted to post something in a thread, but my last post was still there and I couldn't double post....
Thanks for posting that, I now know what to do when I run into that problem again!!

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll look into the thanks button and take another stab at the mobile stylesheet logic when I work on Abe's new theme.

Thanks slimjackson! Let me know if there's anything I can help with. I'm a web developer as well...

Another suggestion: can we increase the max number of choices in polls? 50 is the current max and isn't enough to include all of Perfume's songs in a poll for example...

Doubling posting but it's been a long time since last post, so should be okay right? :wink:

The YouTube embed code should be updated to the latest API to support HTML5 as well as Flash video. Here's a sample of how to use the new API:

Code: Select all
<iframe class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="640" height="385" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEO_ID" frameborder="0">
</iframe>

This will allow the YouTube vids to work on iOS and other devices that don't have Flash.

Thanks, and let me know if there's any need for additional web dev help, SlimJackson...

Any progress on this? I'd really like to be able to see the YouTube embeds on non-Flash devices.
