“Kasuka na Kaori” Special Video Clip & John Lasseter’s a Big Fan

While Perfume are no strangers to having prominent figures as well known fans to their music, Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter may now be their most famous fan in the world. On the recent episode of Perfume LOCKS (with thanks to hardly_timely), the girls discussed their time in Los Angeles and the lunch they had with Mr. Lasseter.

According to them, Lasseter was excited about his opportunity to have lunch with the girls that his rate of questions prevented them from be able to properly eat their lunch. He even went so far as to surprise them by noting Perfume’s Hiroshima singles “Omajinai Perori” and “Kareshi Boshuuchuu.” This passion from Lasseter is just one side as he himself has not been shy in expressing his love for Perfume, saying when he first heard “Polyrhythm” it was like “falling in love.”

Also, a new “Special Video Clip” for “Kasuka na Kaori” will air July 7 on MUSIC ON! TV that will appear to alter the images in the video. The original PV for “Kasuka na Kaori” has been divisive amongst fans for its use of photo snapshots to capture the song’s tone. The new version will seemingly dismiss the heavy photo cropping that left much of screen black and empty by pulling the images into the original aspect ratios. Feel free to discuss it here.

This Monday, from 5:25-8:00 a.m. in Japan, TV Tokyo will air a special movie that will chronicle Perfume at the Cars 2 World Premiere in Los Angeles. Whether it’s just the red carpet premiere or a documentary, well, I guess we’ll find out. Feel free to discuss it here.

Perfume Headline New Kirin Ad, Launch English Site

Upon returning to Japan from the Cars 2 World Premiere in Los Angeles, Perfume continued positive gestures to their overseas fans by not only thanking their international fanbase in Manager’s Voice blog, but also launching their English website at http://en.perfume-web.jp/.

The English site mirrors the Japanese site, and will hopefully provide English speaking fans, in addition to other international fans with up to the minute news involving Perfume.

Elsewhere, beginning June 29th, “Kasuka na Kaori” will be involved in a new advertising campaign with Kirin to help sell their low alcohol and low calorie chu-hi drink (you must be 21, or your country’s legal drinking age to visit the link). It will be the third ad campaign with Kirin, which had previously used “Laser Beam” for its chu-hi promotion.

Below is the 15 second commercial that will launch on June 29th.

Perfume Takes Hollywood at Cars 2 Red Carpet Premiere

For the past few months the announcement of Perfume’s Polyrhythm to be a featured track in Disney Pixar’s Cars 2 score sent shockwaves through the J-pop industry and especially us fans. Although a seemingly common announcement, the major difference here comes with the fact that Polyrhythm, which set the stage for Perfume’s rise to stardom, is to be featured not just in the Japanese version, but it is considered to be an official track that would be played in all versions of the movie worldwide. It is an honor for Perfume’s music to be featured in an actual Hollywood movie! Continue reading
